Women attending Our Second Brain

Our Second Brain

Why Gut Health Matters More Than You Think

Have you ever felt like your body is trying to tell you something?

Maybe you’re constantly bloated, your energy isn’t what it used to be, you’re struggling with brain fog, or you just don’t quite feel like yourself anymore.

So many women feel this way, especially during perimenopause and midlife. We often put it down to being busy, getting older, or simply carrying too much. But what if your gut is trying to tell you something?

Scientists now often refer to our gut as our “second brain”, because it’s connected to so much more than digestion. It can affect our mood, energy, immune system, hormones and even the way we think.

No wonder gut health has become one of the biggest conversations in women’s wellbeing.

I’m so excited to welcome our guest speaker, Verity Coxon, a local nutritional therapist who specialises in women’s health, naturopathic nutrition and functional testing. Verity is passionate about helping women understand their bodies and restore balance through simple, evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle changes. She’ll help us explore this fascinating topic in a way that’s practical, easy to understand and genuinely useful.

During the evening we’ll explore:

  • Why gut health has such a big impact on the way we feel every day.
  • How digestion can affect our mood, energy, hormones and immune system.
  • Why so many women notice changes during stressful periods, perimenopause and midlife.
  • Simple, realistic ways to support your gut through everyday food and lifestyle choices.

This isn’t about strict diets or being told what you should or shouldn’t eat.

It’s about understanding your body a little better and leaving with ideas that could genuinely make a difference to the way you feel.

More than just a talk

Yes, you’ll learn something new.

But more than that, you’ll spend an evening surrounded by lovely women who are just as curious, supportive and open as you are.

Imagine arriving to a room full of friendly faces.

You grab a glass of wine from the bar.

There’s a table of delicious homemade nibbles waiting for you.

You settle in, meet someone new, have a chat, and enjoy an inspiring talk from an expert who really knows her subject.

You finally get to ask those questions you’ve always wondered about.

Then, when the talk finishes, nobody rushes off.

We stay, chat, laugh, share stories and get to know each other a little better.

Those conversations afterwards are often my favourite part of the evening.

What to expect

  • An inspiring talk from an experienced and knowledgeable guest speaker.
  • Plenty of opportunities to ask your questions.
  • Delicious homemade nibbles.
  • A warm, relaxed atmosphere.
  • A lovely group of women who genuinely want to meet new people and make meaningful connections.
  • A welcoming host (that’s me!) who’ll make sure you feel comfortable from the moment you walk through the door.

If you’re coming on your own, please don’t worry.

Lots of women do.

And by the end of the evening, they usually leave saying, “I’m so glad I came.”

My hope is that you’ll go home feeling like you’ve gained something truly valuable.

Not just knowledge that could improve your health.

But new conversations.

New friendships.

A little inspiration.

And the feeling that you’ve found a community where you truly belong.
